　　學(xué)校最早可溯源至1928年創(chuàng)辦的省立廣西大學(xué)和1932年創(chuàng)辦的廣西省立師范專科學(xué)校，1936年省立師專并入，1941年重建桂林師范學(xué)院，1943年升為國(guó)立桂林師范學(xué)院。1950年再次并入廣西大學(xué)。1953年原廣西大學(xué)停辦，以其文教學(xué)院、理學(xué)院的部分教師及師范專修科全體學(xué)生為基礎(chǔ)組建廣西師范學(xué)院。
